It was brilliant to visit RAF Coningsby in Lincolnshire as part of the Armed Forces Parliamentary Scheme. Coningsby is one of two RAF Quick Reaction Alert (QRA) Stations which protect UK airspace and is home to two frontline, combat-ready squadrons, as well as being the training station for Typhoon pilots.
It is also home to the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight and it was a privilege to get up close to the Lancaster, Hurricanes and Spitfires as they were being serviced ahead of the display season.
